Don't forget the lyrics is one of my favorite TV shows. I am not really into telivision shows, but there are just time that I like to watch them. This show is about "remembering the lyrics of a certain song. It's like a karaoke, the only difference they can win big time :-) . And tonight , they have an amazing 11 year old as a contestant. I was really amazed that he can sing even the songs that was being recorded in the 50's. I really thought that he could win a million dollar, but unfortunately he didn't. The song for the half a million prize was the song by Whitney Houston, " " The greatest love of all" , which was under the 1980's category. He didn't get the right lyrics, but he was able to bring home a big buck , $ 350.000. Wow, an 11 year old won a big money in a singing contest. ( Not the American idol way ) he he he. And not only can he sing, he can also dance.

Dropping out of school
I only work half day today . I told my husband that I am coming home to help my step daughter pack her things. She is going back to Columbus Ohio. She is a junior now, but looks like she wont be able to graduate high school next year. She is dropping out of school. I feel sad for her. Especially that education is really important to me. She doesn't want to be down south , she wanted to be in Ohio where her friends are. Everynight she calls her friends in Ohio and when its time for her to wake and get ready for school, she 's always tired.
I was just wondering if those friends of hers will still be there 5 years from now. I am sure each of them will have a different life, jobs, or maybe some of them got married. Children in the US are very fortunate to have the kind of school that they have. Everything is given to them, they have school buses that brings them from home to school and vice versa. If we have this kind of opportunity in the Philippines, I would surely take advantage of them.Have you considered purchasing a school diploma? Joke college diplomas make for an awesome decoration in an office! What do you think your family members will think when you come home with a diploma from a school of your choice?

Happy Monday
Good morning everyone. Today I got up like 20 minutes early.. wohooo. It's Monday , back to work, a lot of people I know hates Mondays, but they love Fridays. Everybody is looking forward for FRIDAY, and that includes me. But are we looking forward for Mondays also? I do. When my husband was deployed in the Middle East last year, I am so looking forward for Mondays, not not really that exciting on Fridays. For me, weekend ( aside from Sundays ) , is just another borning day. I am homebody person, so on the weekend, I normally doesnt have anybody to talk to. I can't for Monday to go to work so I can talk to somebody. I was alone for almost a year , and was able to get use to it. When my husband finally came back from his deployment , I have to adjust again . Huh, what a life. Now, I am still excited when Mondays arrives, although I already have companies for the weekend. Happy Monday everyone .

Worth Thinking About
I GOT THIS E-MAIL FROM A FRIEND, AND I THINK THIS IS WORTH SHARING;
There was a chemistry professor in a large college who had some exchange students in the class.
One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.
In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.
He asked: 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.
The young man said that it was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.'
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America . The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.
One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a free lunch and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.
If you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably delete this email. But God help you when the gate slams shut!

Family
I chatted with my sister last night , and we talked about everything, We chatted about 3 hours, of course I dont have to worry about going to bed early because its Friday. We talked about our parents , I have seen my parents for more than 4 years now. And I terribly missed them. My father just had his birthday on December 21 and mother had her birthday on January 18. They're in their 60's now. My father is 66 and mother is 64. And also they just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary . " Congratulations Papa and Mama " . I hope to be with you on the your 50th wedding anniversary.
My sister have told me that one of my nephew fell off the carabao, and cut his knee. He was taken to the hospital. I feel sorry for him. He was helping my father hauling some nipa huts when he fell. I got many nieces and nephews now, but I really haven't have a chance to play with them, talk to them often as they live far . My eldest niece already has a baby. That means means that my parents are great grandparents now. ( My niece have a baby first before I do . he he he ) When I was still in the Philippines I lived and worked in Cebu. The only time I can go home was during Chrismtas time. One of these I will be able to go home and that will be a great family reunion. And I am so looking forward for that time.

Voice of a Miracle
Last Sunday ( January 20 ) , my pastor's son sings a very beautiful song. It was an amazing song. Who could believe that , that boy can sing like that? When we first move down south , we attended the First Baptist Church in Bonneau. Then one sunday evening after the worshipped service , the Pastor and his wife invited me and my husband to a dinner at their house. There's a lof of people during that night, and of course the food was great. This was more than 4 years ago. I saw this little boy , he was about 10 that time , and I told my husband " maybe something wrong with that child " ? But he is such a sweet boy . I didn't know at that time , that he was the Pastor's first born son.
As months and years passed by, I found out that the little boy had a celebral palsy. When my Pastor's wife was pregant , ultrasound came out that the baby has a hydrocephalus. The doctor told them that the baby might not be able to see , walk , talk or do anything or he'll die after birth. They were devastated. But they keep their faith. And now, he is already 14, not only that he can walk, but he can also ran like a any other boy,not only that he can talk, he can also sing. As I looked at him, I wondered why there are a lot of mother who aborted their babies without even giving the baby a chance to see the world. I wondered if he has a different parents who doesn't fear God, he wont be here and he wont be a blessings to me and to other people around him.
He is a reminder that God has control of everything. Every time I see him, he reminds me of how merciful, gracious and how loving God is. His physical body may not as perfect as those other children around him, but I am pretty sure that he is one of God's perfect child. As he sings at church Sunday, I hear the voice of a miracle .

Digital Watch
I asked my husband what would he want me to give him on our anniversary. He only want one thing, a digital watch. I found a website that sells digital watches. They don't only sell watches but they also have bracelets , necklaces and pendants, earrings and rings. Not only that they're prices are very reasonable , they also offer a a Free Second Day Shipping. And they also offer an overnight delivery if you really need your jewelry ASAP. :-)
So my browsing and shopping for a perfect gift that my husband wants is satisfying and fun.I would really recommend visiting their site :-) Opppsss.. btw, the link is www.allejewelry.com

Get Milk , Lose Weight
This was the sign of the truck that I saw while we were on the way to the gym , " Get Milk, lose weight". I am not sure if the sign was being sarcastic or what ? Maybe it works on the cow? ha ha ha. I think that truck was delivering milk or dairy products to a convenient store, so perhaps the sign was real ? While I was still in the Philippines I like to drink milk in the morning instead of coffee. I like a very hot nido milk ,hmmmm yummy ! . But when I got here in the US , I cannot find that milk at any regular grocery stores unless I go to a Filipino store. I know milk is good for us but I dont think drinking whole milk can help us lose weight ?

Rainy Saturday
Its Saturday... hoorraayy!!! My husband wake me up at 9:30 am . I didnt really went to bed really early last night ( early in the morning , 2:30 am) . I actually had a very good night sleep. And besides its raining this morning. How wonderful it is to sleep while its raining. The morning is very quite, you can only hear the rain pouring . I always believe that rain is one of the blessings from God. If there's no rain, how are the crops grow? If there's no crop, how can people and animals eat? We all need rain. Everytime me and my husband are the at the church and its raining, I always hear old folks thanking and praising God for the rain.
But anway, we have to go some place today. Todd has to go vote for the primary election . And I think you could guess who his candidate is :-) . Then when got home , I did my set ups and a little push ups ha ha ha.. I need to stay fit . We'll just go to the gym later this afternoon . I think we have to keep ourselves healty especially that the trip to an emergency costs us a lot of money even if we have goo health insurance.

Thank God It's Friday
Finally, friday is here. That means I can stay up late and stay in bed until 9 or 10 am on Saturday. I love my job, ( of course if I dont have a job how am I going to pay bills, buy clothes, send money to my family in PI ) . But everybody needs a break and I am always looking for the weekend. Both me and my husband doesn't work on the weekend, so its normally our bonding moments. ( Not that we dont have time for each other during the weekdays ) . And also saturday is a good time to go shopping. If I go shopping during the weekdays, that means I cannot stay that long because the mall closes at 9 pm, and I also need to go to bed early.

Some will say , they wanted to lose weight, some will say they wanted to make a good financial decision and stay out of debt , read the whole Bible in a year , be a good husband or wife, get a better job, get a good grade, and the lists go on . Well, yesterday( saturday )me and my husband went to the gym, ( we always do ) . The gym was packed with people, normally when its saturday there's not a lot of people working out. And then my husband reminded me that its New Year and everybody wanted to lose weight, becuase thats one of their New Year's Resolution. But wait till the February and then you can no longer see these people in here. So how many of us keep our New Years Resolution and do it throughout the year? I am hoping I can do mine :-)

First Sunday of 2008
Today is the first Sunday of the New Year. My husband and I got up early as we always go to the early service. We wanted to leave the house around 7:30 a.m. so we could be at church before the service starts. But today, it took me forever to iron his shirt, and we still have to stop by the store to put gas in his truck . ( I told him to use his truck instead of the car ) . He told me that while he's putting gas on the truck that I should get into the store so I could coffee. He said its in the far right corner, when I get inside the store , there were different varieties of coffee. He wanted to have the "mocha flavored one " . So I was there inside the store looking like I am lost. he he he . And then he finally came and asked me , why do you have to cups of coffee? I told him , because I don't know which one should I get .
Anyway, when we arrived the church it already started. First Sunday of the Year and we came to church late. We had a good message today. The preacher choose a topic, " A Happy Home in Bethany". The scripture was found in John 12:1-11. This is where Jesus went to Bethany where Martha, Mary and Lazarus live. He was talking about how Martha served, how Mary worshipped and how Lazaruz witnessed. In this passage, if we put Christ as as center in our lives, then we would serve, worship , and witness to others happily. It would become a true and pure worship.

Purple People Eaters
Purple People Eaters in other terms the Vikings. Before I married to my husband , I have no idea what football is. I dont know why they call it football , when they dont really use thier feet ,but instead used thier bodies. They only kicked the football during the kicked off, punt or a field goal. Oh well.
Anyway, my husband and I love the Minnesota Vikings. I thought they'll be in the playoffs this season, but they didn't. Have they beat the Washington Red Skins, they'll be in, have they beat the Detroits Lions they'll be in . But unfortunately they ended up 8-8. They're actually doing better this year compare to last year. Oh well!!! I hope they will do their best next season .

Christmas
We had a wonderful Christmas, he was the one who does all the cooking and I was only making one item ( the green bean casserole ) . He did a great job cooking our Christmas dinner . He also made a 17 year chocolate cake, the cake was really good but unfortunately since it was a 17 layer, it fell sideways . I think it was too heavy . But hey, it was very delicious and very rich .
