If you are a Christian and read the whole Bible, I am sure there's a book there that you wanted to skip because it's kind of boring . The Book of Chronicles talked about the genealogy, where it is very hard to pronounce the names. This is a book of the " begats". Recently our Pastor preach about one of the name in this book. The mini profile of Jabez. If you have noticed, most name only has one verse.But there's two verses that talked about Jabez. The name Jabez means " pain or sorrow ". How do you like carrying a name that means pain? Then out of curiosity I googled my name " Elizabeth" and see the Biblical meaning of it. They actually used ELISABETH .The Biblical name Elisabeth is the Greek version of the Hebrew name Elisheba and it's meaning is OATH OF GOD.
Elisabeth was the wife of the priest name Zacharias and mother of John the Baptist.She was also a cousin of Mary , the mother of Jesus Christ. It is pronounced as el-ee-sab'-eth. Elizabeth is the more popular modern spelling of this ancient Hebrew name.

Christmas Songs

Yesterday was a lazy day for me. I woke up late, eat my favorite breakfast which is rice and scrambled eggs. Anyway, as I was doing house chores after breakfast, I listen to my favorite Christian radio station and they're playing Christmas songs the whole day. The DJ said right after Thanksgiving,they'll play Christmas songs every weekend until Christmas. I think that is awesome!

And today as my husband and I went to the store to buy Christmas gift wrapper, the store also played Christmas songs. While my husband was busy picking up the wrapper, I was also busy looking for Christmas Cards. Yes, I was looking for CHRISTMAS CARDS , NOT HOLIDAY Cards. I don't want to send a card that does not SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS in it. If they get offended by it, then they should not celebrate Christmas and they should WORK on CHRISTMAS DAY! Sounds fair ? :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Today is the Thanksgiving Day in the US. It's quite different from the one that I used to when I was still in the Philippines. At the church where I go in the Philippines, we celebrated Thanksgiving too. It's not always on the same day every year. Church members bring foods and share it to everybody.

In the US, their Thanksgiving started when 53 surviving pilgrims celebrated their successful harvest. They give thanks to God. They have so many things to be thankful for. They were thankful that they were alive, thankful for the harvest and for their new freedom. One of the main reason why they flee was the freedom of religion. The freedom to worship the ONE TRUE GOD.

I have a lot to be thankful too. I am thankful to the Lord that He gave His Only Son for me. I am thankful for my parents and my siblings. I thankful for my wonderful husband.I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for my job. I am thankful for my health.

I think you all know that I had a deer encounter last Friday. The did a lot of damage to my car, but I am very thankful I did get hurt.

Last night as me and my husband were in downtown Minneapolis to watch the NBA game, we saw a sign that says " Give thanks for everything" . I think that was a very generic sign. Give thanks for everything to WHO? God is the object of my Thanksgiving, How about YOU ?

Digital Gifts

My husband and I went to the Mall of America today. He wanted to do some Christmas shopping for his daughter and for his Dad. He wanted to buy gifts to his family as early as possible. He told me that it's easy to buy gifts for his dad but he it is very hard to find a gifts for his daughter. Buying a gift for a college daughter might be the hardest thing for a dad. I remember her telling me that her digital camera got damaged and she had not bought a new one yet, so I suggested my husband to consider buying her a digital camera for Christmas. And then just out of nowhere, I asked my husband if I am easy to buy presents too and he replied to me with a big "NO". I may give him some ideas on what to give me for Christmas. Well,actually I would like to have a Digital Camcorder. I like to have the JVC 60GB HD Digital Camcorder. I have been wanting to have a digital camcorder for so long.

Deer Hunting ?

"I went deer hunting this morning, but since I don't have a gun , I decided to use my car instead " . . This is what I said when I get to work yesterday morning.

Actually, I just wanted to cheer up myself. As I was heading to work early in the morning, I was not expecting to have an encounter with a deer. I just heard some noise and then next thing I know, the side view mirror was gone. I pulled over to the side, still shock with what just happen. I tried to call my husband but he's cellphone was off. I dialed 911 right away and reported told them I just hit a deer, or should I say the deer just hit me. The police officer arrived in less than 10 minutes. While waiting for the police, I just stayed inside the car as it was freezing cold. It was 10 degrees, brrrr..and besides it was still dark. The deer did a lot of damage to my small toyota car :( The mirror on the driver side was gone plus I can't open the door too. Yes, talking about having a bad day.

But I am just thankful that I am okay. God is really watching over me!

Our temperature keeps going down and it keeps getting cold and yesterday my husband told me that he was outside most of the time. I am just glad that he was wearing something that keeps him warm. Wednesday is our midweek service at Church. Although my husband and I are both tired from a long day at work, we always managed to go and attend the midweek service. The message was really good. It was about anger and how we deal with our anger as a Christian. But anyway, the article below was written on the back of the bulletin;

Late one December, an elementary school principal said to his teachers;

"Let us all write our New Year's Resolution about how we can be better teachers, and I will put them on the staff bulletin board. In that way, we can be mutually supportive in our efforts to keep those resolutions."

The teachers agreed, and when the resolutions were posted, they all crowded around the bulletin board to read them. One of the young teachers in the group suddenly went into a fit of anger. She said,

" He didn't put up my resolution. It was one of the first ones in. He doesn't care about me. That just shows what it's like around her."

On and on she ranted and raved. The principal, who overheard this from his office was mortified. He hadn't meant to exclude her resolution. Quickly rummaging through the papers on his desk, he found it and immediately went to the bulletin board and tacked it up. The resolution reads:

"I RESOLVE NOT TO LET LITTLE THINGS UPSET ME ANYMORE."

Resolution, but no commitment!

I was Out Like A Light

Last night,my husband ask me if he could use the desktop computer. I told him I am going to watch my favorite Filipino tele novela first. So around 7:00 p.m. I went to the bedroom and read my Bible. After reading 4 chapters, I lay down and wait for him to get done with what he was doing on the computer. But I fall asleep and my husband woke me up around 5:10 am. Wow, he told me I was out like a light. LOL . My sleeping time is normally between 9 and 9:30 pm. I must have been tired. And because I fall asleep so early, I missed my sister online. Sorry Edeza!

Minnesota Gophers Lose Again

I spent most of my afternoon watching football game between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Well, I am actually doing laundry and folding clothes while watching the game. On the first half, the Gophers are actually doing well. They're up 21-7. But I don't know what happened on the 2nd half. They did a lot of mistakes and turnovers as well as penalty. During the fourt quarter, the Badgers are up 35-24. The Gophers were able to get a touchdown and a two point conversion which makes the Badgers led down to 3. But then Adam Webber's passed got intercepted and that's about it! Golden Gophers lose again :(

Habitat For Humanity

One family members of our church is one of the many families who were able to get or build a house through the help of the habitat for humanity. They have moved into their new home on the first day of this month. A week before that, there's still work that needs to be done, like putting the laminated wood floor , etc. Our Pastor ask the congregation if the men could help bring the floor boarding to where it's supposed to. So after church, we went there and the men and some women carried them upstair from the garage. And me, just standing there taking pictures.. he he he he.. You can tell that I am a lazy person !

Breathing Problem

The temperature here in Minnesota is dropping. In fact, yesterday we had a little snow. Actually it was a rain mixed with snow. I still don't have a " real winter" jacket. Most of the jacket that I have is just for South Carolina winter. So my husband bought me some today.

I have a breathing problem. Probably this is because I had an asthma when I was growing up. My doctor in SC gave me inhaler and other medicine to take to help . Yes I am small spasm in the respiratory system due to asthma. When my husband was in S Korea, and I was by myself, I woke up in the middle of the night because I can't breath. I had to literally got up as fast as I can and scream hard just so I can breath. It was scary. This normally happens when I am sleeping, but today is different. My doctor told me, that living in a colder place might trigger my problem and I think this is just the beginning. Winter has not even started yet!!!

A flat Screen TV would be nice !

My husband and I don't watch television that much. I guess that's the reason why until now, we are still using this small analog TV set that we have in the house. Our TV is really old that when we watch a movie we have to spank it so that we can have a clearer picture. Yes I am serious! I know comes February we can longer use this TV , and I think it's time for us to upgrade. We tried to be frugal on our spending and we thought that having a huge TV sets beyond our budget is not necessary. We talked about buying one , but we also agreed not to put that purchased on a credit card as we don't want to pay any interest. I browse some websites to find what I want, I am considering buying this flat screen TV for an easy installment fee without paying any interest in it. My Saturday

How's everyone doing this wonderful weekend? Before I went to bed last night, I told my husband to wake me up at 6 am so I could put my sausage and egg casserole in the oven. We had a breakfast at church this morning and I am not sure what to bring. I was really planning to make some friend rice with egg and bacon but I don't think they will like it. So I browsed the Internet last night to find some western breakfast recipes. The recipe that I choose turned out well, and everyone likes it. Thank God!

After the breakfast, we helped one Peggy moved her furniture from upstairs to her basement. Her mom is going to live with her which I think it's a wonderful idea. Her mom is in her late 70's and she lives by herself. I really didn't help move the furniture though, but me and the other girls will helping to move some other stuffs.

She wanted to buy lunch for us, but we're still full from the heavy breakfast we just had. We chit chatted there for awhile and then Todd and I went to Cabelas to buy an outdoor shoes. I need need to buy more though he he he. And while we're at the Cabelas, Todd was inquiring about a buying a gun. And wow, I thought the economy is bad, but boy ,Cabelas is full of shoppers. Lots of people are buying guns ( deer hunting season in Minnesota begins today ).

I really like the winter shoes that I bought, and I am going to go back there to buy some more!

Stuffs About Me

1. I love to eat rice. I eat rice for breakfast, lunch and supper. I usually buy a 20 lbs rice . For me, it's not a real meal unless there's a rice :)

2. I like sports . I played volleyball when I was in college. And now , I like to go to a ball game. I have been to a ball game several times since we move here in Minnesota.

3. I don't like cold weather. ( Just pray for me in the winter LOL ). When we were in South Carolina and my husband is not home. I hardly turn the A/C on. And I don't like electric or ceiling fan either. ( I know , I am weird he he he )

4. I like to sing. I used to sing solo or in the choir back in the Philippines.( Not the American Idol type though ) I can play guitar too. I learned to play it when I was 13 years old.

5. I am double jointed. My husband thinks it's gross ha ha ha ha. When I bend my thumb backwards, he will say.. eewwww.. LOL

6. I had my first boyfriend when I was 18, ( I told every suitor I had that I don't want to have a boyfriend until I am 18 )

7. My husband and I does not have children yet,and hopefully God will bless us with a TWIN ( para one labor lang he he he )

Some of the things I did on October

I can't believe November is finally here. October had passed to quick that I can't remember most of the things that I did. LOL . The only thing I remember was we went to the park for sight seeing. The color of the trees are awesome . And one more thing, we had our Pastor's appreciation last Sunday after church service. Our pastor likes Mexican foods, so we decided we prepare something Mexican. I made my first ever Mexican recipe. I made a Mexican Chicken Enchilada soup. I think having a hot soup was just perfect during that day, since we had a snow shower.

I had a week off from work during the month of October. During that time I didn't really do anything. All I did was stayed home. I just have to take a vacation or I lose it. Staying home and doing nothing is so boring. I know I am a homebody, but if I have to do it everyday, it will make me crazy. It would be different if I have a child, but I don't and I don't have a dog or cat either.

It is November now, and I am sure this month will be a busy one. We will celebrate Thanksgiving this month. This will be my first time to celebrate Thanksgiving with my husband's family. I am so looking forward to it. Every thanksgiving, its just me and my husband, except that one in 2006 when my husband was deployed in the Middle East. My adopted parents in Charleston SC invited me not only for Thanksgiving but Christmas and New Year's celebration as well. Another thing that I am looking for this month is going to watch the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yes, we are going to watch the game the night before Thanksgiving.
